Leeds United v Sheffield Wednesday

An Early Start
It was a chilly Sunday morning when most people were tucked up in their warm beds, while the hardy Chiltern Whites boarded their 49-seater coach from various locations, Elland Road bound, to see the mighty whites take on a resurgent Sheffield Wednesday team. An early start due to ITV demands, the game kicked off at an unusual time of 12 0’Clock, but the fans did not disappoint and came out in their droves, to make it a sell-out Yorkshire derby.
First Blood
Right from the kickoff, Leeds were on the front foot, our usual style of possession-based football proved too much for the Wednesday players, with passing accuracy and strategic plays, creating early opportunities. Just three minutes into the match, a long pass into the Wednesday box by Rothwell set the tone, as the Sheffield keeper charged out, Manor Solomon seized the moment and with a deft touch, he maneuvered around the advancing keeper and powered a shot between two defenders, to score that vital first goal, first blood to Leeds United 1-0.
Wednesday was not going to lay down though, and was also intent on coming forward being unlucky not to score after 8 minutes.
Boggle was looking lively and linked up well with Dan James on Leeds right wing. A good effort from Dan James 38 minutes in, with a low shot to Wednesday’s bottom left of goal, forcing Beadle into a stretching save.
Second Half
In the second half Leeds continued to dominate, but it was not without the odd scare, with Gassama forcing a good save from Meslier on the 62nd minute.
Daniel Farke surprised no one when he made a few substitutes on the 68th minute, bringing on Ramazani for Solomon and Gruev for Rothwell.
Sheffield continued to look for an equalizer with a succession of corners late in the game, but Leeds overcame that pressure and doubled the score on the 88th minute, with a well taken goal from Ramazani, followed by some stunning acrobatic back flips to celebrate. That second goal really killed off the game for Sheffield's Wednesday, there was no way back, the 90 minute mark was up and 7 minutes of stoppage time was added. Leeds continued to attack and was rewarded with their third goal, coming from a cheeky back heel, that saw Tanaka score in successive league games.
